The Center for Body, Mind, and Culture in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters at Florida Atlantic University recently launched, with Denmark’s University of Aalborg and Aalborg University Press, a new online journal: The Journal of Somaesthetics. The journal, which focuses on the critical study and meliorative cultivation of the experience and performance of the living body (or soma) as a site of sensory appreciation (aesthesis) and creative self-stylization, is edited by Else-Marie Bukdahl (Denmark), Richard Shusterman (USA), and Stahl Stenslie (Denmark/Norway).
The first issue focuses on visual art and contains texts from leading artists and scholars in the field, including Peng Feng, Max Ryynänen, Eva Kit Wah MAN, and Zhou Xian.
