Digital Pedagogy in the Humanities Available for Open Review

The new MLA publication Digital Pedagogy in the Humanities is looking for participants for open peer review. “Each entry in this collection focuses on a keyword in the practice of digital pedagogy, . . . and fifty keywords will be included in the final project.”

The official review period for the first batch will end on 3 August 2015.

The Journal of Somaesthetics

The Center for Body, Mind, and Culture in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters at Florida Atlantic University recently launched, with Denmark’s University of Aalborg and Aalborg University Press, a new online journal: The Journal of Somaesthetics. The journal, which focuses on the critical study and meliorative cultivation of the experience and performance of the living body (or soma) as a site of sensory appreciation (aesthesis) and creative self-stylization, is edited by Else-Marie Bukdahl (Denmark), Richard Shusterman (USA), and Stahl Stenslie (Denmark/Norway).

The first issue focuses on visual art and contains texts from leading artists and scholars in the field, including Peng Feng, Max Ryynänen, Eva Kit Wah MAN, and Zhou Xian.

Inaugural FLDH Consortium Meeting @ The Melrose Center

The Florida Digital Humanities Consortium Executive Council held its inaugural meeting on February 27, 2015, at the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center in the Orange County Public Library. Representatives from the Florida International University, Florida State University Libraries, New College of Florida, Rollins College, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, University of Miami, University of South Florida, and the Florida Humanities Council were in attendance to formalize by-laws and goals, and initiate grant planning.

On February 28, UCF’s Center for Humanities and Digital Research with UCF’s History Department and RICHES program sponsored the Fifth Annual THATCamp Florida in downtown Orlando.
